Committees
Our committees play a vital role in the association’s success. They manage key operational activities, such as conference program planning, record keeping and bill and payment processing. To join a committee, edit your member profile to select as many committees as you would like to be members of. Please note, some committees have defined membership and are not open. |
Awards CommitteeThe Awards Committee oversees all association awards—including
soliciting nominations, reviewing applications, and selecting the
recipients. |
Budget CommitteeThe Budget Committee oversees the financial resources of the organization. |
Conference Committee
The Conference Committee oversees the annual Georgia Libraries Conference, including exhibits, programming, and registration. |
Constitution and Bylaws CommitteeThe Constitution and Bylaws Committee maintains the GLA Constitution and Bylaws and makes recommendations of changes to the Executive Board. |
Georgia Student Media Festival CommitteeThe GSMF Committee coordinates district and state level media festivals for K-12 students. |
Handbook CommitteeThe Handbook Committee collects information about GLA's functions for inclusion in the GLA Handbook and publishes it in an online format for use by the association. |
Marketing and Branding CommitteeThe Marketing and Branding Committee promotes GLA and its activities via the website and social media platforms. |
Membership CommitteeThe Membership Committee encourages new memberships and the renewal of existing members to grow the overall size of GLA. |
Nominations and Elections CommitteeThe Nominations and Elections Committee prepares the annual slate of officers for all elected positions and administers the elections in September and November. |
Records CommitteeThe Records Committee maintains the records of GLA in conjunction with the archives at Valdosta State University. |
Scholarship Committee
The Scholarship Committee publicizes and administers the Beard and Hubbard Scholarships given to current MLIS students. |
